Blessings of the Storehouse (Part 5)

Scales and Standards

In the biblical storehouse there were balances, scales, and stones used as weights. Measurements such as cubits, ephahs, shekels, and talents governed trade, worship, and justice.   God does all things by weight, number, and measure.  Disorder is foreign to Him; accuracy and divine justice reflects His nature (Lev 19:35-36).

In the New Covenant, Christ Himself becomes the perfect scale—the divine standard by which all things are measured. He is the plumbline, the pattern Son, the flawless example whose footsteps we are called to follow (Jn 13:15, 1 Pet 2:21).  In Him there is no imbalance, no distortion, no compromise.  Therefore we are commanded to weigh ourselves at the Table of the Lord (1 Cor 11:28). The Greek word for “examine” is dokimazō and speaks of testing, weighing, and approving what is genuine. As we partake of His Table we will receive grace to be transformed to His standard.

Fathers in the faith are entrusted with this responsibility: to provide standards, measurements so sons may grow into “the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Eph 4:13). A true father functions as a calibration tool. Calibration is essential in every sphere of life. A scale must be set to zero before weighing—otherwise the reading is false.  Likewise, our spiritual lives cannot be measured without a standard.

The Church in Corinth lacked the mind of Christ and fell into idolatry, immorality, and disorder.  Paul sent Timothy—a likeminded son—to remind them of Paul’s ways in Christ (1 Cor 4:17).  Paul’s ways were Christ’s ways.  Therefore Paul urged them to imitate him as he imitates Christ (1 Cor 11:1). Timothy was accurately aligned to bring the Corinthian Church up to standard.

When God raised Daniel as a standard in Babylon, the kingdom of Belshazzar was weighed in the balances and found wanting (Dan 5:26). Today the writing is on the wall in many ministries that operates with a Babylonian mindset. God has raised up fathers who are representing the Kingdom of righteousness and justice. They are the messengers with the measuring rod that the prophets Ezekiel and Zechariah spoke of (Eze 40:5, Zac 2:1-2). They are the angels John saw measuring the temple (Rev 11:1).  The measurements form a perfect cube—equal in length, width, and height—revealing no compromise (Rev 21:12-16). What we believe, say, and do must align.  God measures consistency across every space of life: church, home, and conduct.

The Standard of the house is the culture that we live by. It becomes a banner that must be lifted up so that Christ is seen. It becomes a yardstick, a rod that guides us. Moses lifted the rod while Joshua fought in the valley. Victory did not depend on Joshua’s strength alone but on the standard being upheld. When Moses’ hands grew weary, Aaron and Hur supported him. The altar was named YHWH NissiThe Lord is my Banner (Ex 17:8-16). When we cooperate with the appointed Storehouse our battles are taken care of.  When the enemy comes against us the Spirit of the Lord will lift the standard against him! Let us measure correctly because with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you (Luk 6:38, Matt 7:2).

Proverbs 11:1 Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight.
